Events September – October 2015

Murray Meander September 2015

We have had the Murray Meander in September school holidays  We are very pleased to advise that this event was well attended and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There was a small mishap early in the Murray Meander when John’s cart had a malfunction but in typical VWDHA style all the old hands used experience and know-how to quickly rectify the problem and get back on the road again.  It is a credit to Ted Wangman’s knowledge and love of the Murray River and the local area that enables such a great drive to take place.  Apparently Matt Jeffery caught a “Huge” fish but unfortunately he was alone at the time and no one else saw it – Oh and it got away too!!! By all reports the bush tucker and camp fire meals were amazing again and the winery visit was a hit as well.

Cooper’s Settlement/Bundoora Heritage Expo October 2015

Our day at Cooper’s turned out to be a “Heritage Expo” with the other groups who have rooms at Cooper’s supporting VWDHA.  We had the blacksmiths working, calligraphy displays and workshops, the printer was open and we had the felt making lady showing her skills along with paper making workshops and more.  Unfortunately the public didn’t come in the numbers we had all hoped for but it is the beginning of events we can “grow”.  The participants certainly had a great time and we thank Graeme Jowett for his passion and workmanship in supplying all those wonderful refurbished machines/carts etc.  We also thank Lyle for helping Graeme in this regard.
